Project: RAA HMAS Stirling Collins Class Submarine, Smoke Training Module
Location: Garden Island, Western Australia
Client: Bovis Lend Lease
Scope of work: Provide equipment for a training facility for a Collins class submarine to replicate an environment that mimicked emergency situations such as oxygen deficient and limited visibility
Challenges: Find a local company who were able to design, deliver and install a turnkey environmental solution to the Department of defence (DoD)
Engineering solutions: HVAC were commissioned to deliver mechanical services systems which would enable the training of DoD personnel in an oxygen deficient, limited visibility, environment within a mock-up of a Collins Class submarine. HVAC detailed designed and put into service the smoke generating systems, Emergency Air Breathing Systems (EABS) and smoke evacuation systems which met these requirements
